US-based SEMI ((Semiconductor Equipment Materials International) predicts that global semiconductor market value will reach US$117.5 billion and grow by 14.7% in 2022 compared to 2021, the Commercial Daily reported on July 14. The double-digit growth is mainly attributed to global expansion plans of several semiconductor foundries during 2022. Despite the Russia-Ukraine War, the global inflammation pressure, and the possible inventory adjustments, global semiconductor market value is still estimated to reach US$120.8 billion in 2023, up 2.8% year-on-year. Taiwanese semiconductor shipment value is estimated to top around NT$4.37 trillion (US$148.6 billion) in 2022 and grow 17.5% year-on-year, higher than the global average, according to MIC (Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute).
